Picnic In The Park - 1st Birthday Party Overview

I must say that Reed's birthday party was awesome!  The weather was perfect, we had a great turn out and we had so much fun with our friends and family celebrating our little guy turning one.  I wanted to start with an overview of the big day and then I will take some time in subsequent posts talking about the details that made everything picture perfect.  Thanks to my sweet husband for taking such great photos!

We have a great little park just down the street that set the stage for a fun day.

A cheery easel welcomed guests to the park.  We used photos of Reed throughout his first year here and in the party tent which you can see in the distance.

Our picnic spread was yummy!  Sandwiches, snack mix, fruit, chips, cake and a sundae bar.  Plus beer, drink boxes, water and sparkling water.  On each corner of the ten we attached photos of Reed.  We hung a sheet along the back to protect the food from the elements.  Guests used these sweet colored lunch snacks to hold all of their goodies.

Isn't this the most beautiful cake you ever did see?  Ha!  This was a Duncan Hines creation Rudy and I made the night before the party.  It wasn't much to look at but it sure tasted good!

We also had this bundt cake as well.  I love the flag topper Theresa made!

We used Starbucks mocha bottles for our sundae toppings.  They made it very easy for parents to pour the topping of choice on their ice cream.  Theresa made the adorable labels that we tied on with red yarn.

My "Family Unplugged" booklet favors were a hit with the parents.  Each bag had a booklet and serveral pieces of candy all tied with blue yarn.

We had an awesome sundae bar of homemade ice cream and good old vanilla, strawberry and chocolate.  Flavors included Oat Whiskey Raisin, Peanut Butter Cup and Neopolitan.  The first two flavors were made by friends from our church - Kayla and her husband Jonathan.  If you are local to Charlotte and want to connect with them, let me know.  It is AMAZING ice cream.

Quite The Occasion wouldn't be possible without my friend Theresa!  We are working hard to get the business off the ground.  Can't wait until the big launch just after Thanksgiving.

More details to come tomorrow!
