Sunny Living Room

Happy Friday!  Wanted to share pictures from my sisters living room.  I wish I had a "before" picture because it was the exact opposite of sunny.  The walls were dark brown solid wood paneling.  Usually homes have that icky fake paneling of the 70's that you do not have any qualms painting.  Because they were solid wood, I think she thought about it but eventually decided to paint them.  Great huh?

She left the beams the original color.  Even though they are painted the next person would have some options though.  You could rough them up a bit and whitewash them to give it a weathered look.

Another thing she did was whitewash the brick fire place.  She was going to paint it white but after the first coat she loved it and left it.

I really love her sofa too.  This is a great example of how you can take something old and well loved and make something new with it.  This was our grandmother's formal sofa.  She had it recovered in this pretty mint green and had custom pillows made.  Claudia is not afraid of mixing and matching patterns or throwing a few budget pieces in.  Would you believe the two pillows closest to the middle are from wal-mart?

My sister is contantly tweaking her home...so next time I visit I am sure I will have more pictures to share.  Love you Claudia and thanks for letting me share your beautiful home!
