Muscle Walk This Weekend!

I have sent my letters, sent my emails and now the dough is really rolling in!

Woo Hoo! The walk is this weekend and I am so excited about my progress. I am walking in this event because I am passionate about finding a cure and effective treatments for the 40+ rare muscle wasting diseases in MDA’s program. MDA is the largest supporter worldwide and without MDA the advancements so far (several treatments, improved quality of life, increased life expectancy) would not have happened.

I know that you may not have had a chance to meet someone with Lou Gehrig’s, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy or Spinal Muscular Atrophy but their stories are those of courage and strength. The everyday things that they have to overcome, like eating, speaking, tying shoes, really puts things in perspective.  They are the epitome of making Everyday Exceptional which is what this blog is all about.

Unfortunately many of these diseases are fatal for both children and adults. But thanks to MDA, effective treatments and eventual cures are on the horizon. I attended a medical conference last week and learned the details on many of them…so very cool what our bright researchers are coming up with! I am proud to be a part of the momentum for the thousands of families affected and those in Charlotte who I know so well.

Team Hope Builders is up to $2,000 raised. My initial goal was $4,000 but $2,000 is pretty darn good for a small team this year. There is still time to make your donation if you would like to help. It is greatly appreciated! I have received donations from $5 to $200 so any little bit helps!
